WHY WORK WITH ME?"When
we found Floy we discovered the real reason our daughter was struggling
in school. No one else had ever truly helped, we did everything the
school suggested and wasted so much time and money. The school was even
trying to push us to enroll her in special education classes. Now she
is at the top of her class and loves to read. Miss Floy did all
this and gave our daughter back her self confidence. We are writing
this because we want to tell more parents about our experience and what
they can do now to find the answers for their children."

Dear Miss Gregg,
You are my number one hero!
I wish I had done this before. I was lucky that my aunty told my mom about you or else I would still be struggling in school. Thank you for helping me improve my reading and bring up my grades. Also the sessions with d-coding have taught me how to break down the words and say them right away. I know other kids are waiting for you to help them.
Sincerely, Karisse
Dear Miss Gregg,
Thank you for helping me with my reading. I hope you will miss me. I will miss you sooo much!!!!! Thank you for sending me to Dr. Gushiken too. I will see you in a month and I will study hard in school and I will use my glasses and study my words.
Love, Kari
Dear Miss Gregg,
Thank you for teaching me to read.
XOXOX Abby
Thank you so much Floy for getting Sam into your program. We all sincerely appreciate your effort and patience. Sam is already gained a more positive attitude after just one session. Yesterday he read on his own and enjoyed it! Thank God we found you.

“I highly recommend Miss Floy as the answer to your child’s reading problems. She is a knowledgeable and caring tutor. We didn’t understand why our son had fallen so far behind in reading, he is very bright and capable. We did not know where else to turn until we found Miss Floy and she solved our problem. Working with Miss Floy his reading came up to grade level and for the first time in his life he said 'Mom! I like to read!" Robert's Mom
Dear Floy,
I am writing you this letter to thank you for saving my daughter! You have saved her in so many ways – saving her eyes from unnecessary tearing, keeping in tact her love of learning and most importantly, since she is bright; saving her self esteem!
I am so thankful that I came across your flyer in which you listed several symptoms of reading problems. As I read the list, I noticed my daughter exhibited several of those symptoms even though she could barely read. She would skip words or insert words that weren’t in the text.
She would cover one eye or lean her head sideways to try and read and the most shocking to me was how her eyes would spontaneously tear with just reading 2 sentence pages. I took her to an ophthalmologist who was surprised that her vision tested 20-15 at such a young age of 5. He offered no explanation as to why her eyes would tear other than she must be tired.
I knew that wasn’t the case since she sleeps 11 hours every night. I was baffled as to why her eyes would tear as she would try to read. When I read about the tearing on your symptom page I just had to call and find out what you were all about.
Well, what I have found is that you are an amazing woman with such a love for children and reading. You are truly The Reading Expert. Your system diagnosed my daughter as having eye movement control problems, eye coordination problems and eye focusing problems. We started your program using just numbers since she was so young and her reading so limited.
At your suggestion, I took her to see Dr. Gushiken on Oahu and was overwhelmed at what a comprehensive eye exam he gave her. It was a 90 minute exam that was actually entertaining to my daughter and he discussed with me for 30 minutes what his findings were. We came home and had her reading glasses prescription filled and then things really started to roll!
You have put a lot of thought into your program to make it so interesting for children. I am amazed that she never tired of going to your clinic 3-4 days a week for an hour each visit. Not only did my child learn to read, she learned about real things not storybook fiction.
Not only can my daughter read now, she loves to read! I am amazed that she is 6 years old and has read books like Charlotte’s Web, James and the Giant Peach, Pippi Longstocking and Helen Keller. She went from pre-reading visual development to reading at 2nd grade level with your expert training.
I have told all of my friends about you! Everyone should be tested!
We are so fortunate to have you!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love and aloha,
Tami
"For me personally as a mother, one of the most valuable things that I have received working with Floy is having my child's visual inefficiency identified. Watching your child work so hard to no avail and not knowing why she is struggling with school is excruciating. Knowing what you are dealing with and that there is an avenue to help her has been revelatory.
The value we have received from Kela Reading System is immeasurable! Our child's confidence and self concept has improved and that is priceless. Her attitude towards learning has become far more positive. She no longer comes home after school exhausted and home work takes far less time because she is able to focus and concentrate on her homework much more efficiently.
Her reading has improved in several ways, she is more enthusiastic about reading, doesn't lose her place as much, skipping words has decreased and her reading fluency has increased .

"My son always had a problem reading school work instructions. Now he has no problem and does not need my help. Before he attended your course he was the last, in his group of friends, to finish his homework. Now he will finish with with them or sometimes first.
Cathy, Mom of 5th grader
"Yesterday after reading class my fourth grader told me, for the first time in his life, he likes to read now. I had to pull the car over to the side of the road because I began crying and couldn't see well enough to drive. Thank you so much."

"After having our daughter evaluated by several other people, we called Miss Floy and her evaluation was by far the most thorough and professional. She gave us the answer to our child's problem, and with a specific easy to understand explanation. She also gave recommendations on what steps to take next."

HUGE DIFFERENCE for my son! Reading from 12 min to 40 min
Dear Dr. Gushiken & Floy,
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ASSIST WITH MICAH'S VISION AND READING -- I COULD NEVER THANK YOU BOTH ENOUGH. I have shared our families experience with many teachers and parents, be prepared for the referrals!
Thank you very much for the services you provided for Micah. The glasses have made a HUGE DIFFERENCE for Micah and his reading abilities. We received his glasses on July 26 and on July 27 he read for 40 minutes. Micah continues to read for long periods!!!!
On the first day of school, Micah's homework was to read for pleasure. Micah read for 40 minutes and commented to us how much of a difference his glasses make. Micah said, "Mom I can read for a long time, I didn't stop to ask how much longer I needed to read." As you both know, Micah would read for about 12 minutes and his right eye would not be able to track with his left eye. Therefore he really only enjoyed reading for about 10 minutes and after that, it was a struggle for Micah.
I requested for Micah's school to evaluate whether Micah would qualify for a section 504, which is basically a plan to provide Micah with any accommodations to help him learn in the classroom. Some examples of accommodations would be to require his teachers to have him sit close to the chalkboard, allowed time to stop and "palm" his eyes, or extended time to complete work / test that may be extensive in reading & writing from the board to paper (hand / eye coordination tasks).
I will be meeting with the following people to help develop an action plan. I provided the school with the recommendation letter from Floy. In addition to Floy's letter, we need Dr. Gushiken's examination reports and recommendation reports. I signed a waiver allowing Dr Gushiken to release information to the Elementary School. The school should be contacting Dr. Gushiken soon.
The meeting will consist of the following people:
Principal
DOE District Visual Itinerant Teacher
Student Services Coordinator
Regular Classroom Teacher
Counselor
DOE District School Psychologist
Parents
After speaking with the SSC, I'm a step ahead of the process. Usually, a parent has a concern and requests a meeting with the school. The school then coordinates a meeting with the individuals they believe will help narrow down the diagnosis and then assists parents with finding a specialist to help diagnose the student. However, in Micah's case we already know what the diagnosis is and with the doctor's recommendations and his tutor's recommendations we can move quicker to help get Micah the service available to him.
Thank You again Dr. Gushiken!!! The information you provide to the elementary school will be greatly appreciated. A section 504 plan is only good for one year. At the end of the year, the parents decide whether to have section 504 services continue - which would require a meeting again or we could decide to end the modification plan.
I believe with the visual therapy exercises and his glasses, Micah will not need a modification plan for the next school year. I'm thrilled that Micah's school is very supportive and is very proactive about helping students who have visual impairments!!!
Micah's 3rd grade teacher has been awesome and she has a sister who had Convergence Insufficiency. Micah's principal also has Convergence Insufficiency and was very knowledgeable about the visual therapy because she did extensive visual therapy as a child.
ALOHA ~
